General Nursing & Midwifery

School of Nursing offers a Diploma course of 3 years is General Nursing and Midwifery. Which is Affiliated to the Maharashtra Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Counsil.

About the School of Nursing:
30 students are selected for training each year. They spend the next 3 years in equipping themselves in the skills of general nursing and midwifery. All instruction / lectures are delivered in English. The students appear for Maharashtra Nursing Council examination at the end of 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year, Internship Students who fail in the examination are allowed to re-apear after six months.

1. Female candidates, of the age group of 17 years to 35 years, unmarried or widows without incumbrances.
2. Education 12th passed of Maharashtra State or equivalent or higher examination of any other State. Preference will be given to Science Students.

Admission Requirement:
If you wish to join our institution a small formality has to be completed you may proceed in following steps.

1. Fill in the application form.
2. Attach xerox copy of School or College Leaving Certificate.
3. Attach xerox copy of 10th & 12th Passing certificates & Mark Sheets.
4. Attach Birth Certificate with two xerox copy.
5. Attach xerox copy of migration and equivalent Certificate. (Only for students outside Maharashtra State Board.)
6. Passport size recent photograph.

Selection Methodology:
1. Scrutinizing eligibility
2. Entrance Test - English, General Knowledge, General Science and General Aptitude.
3. Personel Interview.
4. Assurance / surety given by the parents / guardian, to make all the payments at the time of admission & thereafter andregular as specified / stated according to the rules of the institution.

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Sponsorship
Christian candidate who wish to do Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing at CMC - Vellore and CMC Ludhaiana will be recommended by MMH for the benefits of sponsorship after completion of GNM course and after fulfilling CMC - Vellore & CMC - Ludhiana admission criteria.

We provide all the necessary facilities to our students to inculcate greed of knowledge in them, this facilities include not only curricular but also extra currcular and extension activities.
We have Central Library containing as many as 1500 books of all the subjects.
We provide number of journals, magazine, periodicals, newspapers etc. apart from reference books.

We have well equipped laboratories with latest hi-tech equipments. Ours is one of the oldest laboratories in Central India. Students have full fledged exposure to both basic and applied techniques of medical diagnosis and clinical treatment. Also students are allowed to function independently for practicals in order to develop inquisitive approach with scientific thinking.

Clinical Exposure:
Our core team consisting of highly talented instructors and tutors have put up avery planned and systematic approach to get the students exposed to clinical practices in the hospital.
After class room teaching, students are posted in the wards so as to develop a unique blend of actual medical practice couple with teaching in the class room.

Field Exposure:
Our community outreach programs like PATH-SURE START, CCC, Leprosy and HIV awareness programs operate continuously all year round and students get a chance to actually view and experience the challenges in the nursing profession. This not only makes our students more efficient but at the same time they have a "cutting edge" over others, as a result of these programs.

The management of the Hospital ensure safe, secure, and comfortable accommodation for students pursing the GNM course. We provide sharing accommodation for students.

Cultural Events:
Every year, various events & festivals (annual day) are celebrated with much zeal & enthusiasm. Students present various cultural activities like folk dance, songs and skits on these occasions. Apart from this, students are engaged in various sports activities like badminton, table tennis & kho-kho. The faculty are dedicated to bring out the best of creativity & talent in the student by making them use all the skills.

While we provide you with thesemany facilities we expect very few things from you.
1. College Uniform are compulsory while entering the Hospital Premises.
2. 90% attendance in classes is compulsory. The student failing to do so will not allowed to appear in the examination.
3. Ragging and Using Mobile Phone in the hospital premises strictly prohibated.
4. Give respect to your teachers and other staff member of the college. No misbehaviour will be tolerated under any circumstances.
5. Visitor: Each student must bring with her a list signed by parents or guardian, of relation or friends who may visit her and to whom she may go on her day off. their list be also be approved by Principal Tutor. Male visitor will not be allowed to meet the students unless they bring a letter from the father or guardian. The Authorities have the right to refuse any particular visitor's permission to meet any particular student. Visitor's has to produce visiting card issued by the school of Nursing.
6. Principal reserves the right to grant, refuse or cancel admission at any time without assigning any reason in the interest of the institution.

All students are expected to abide by the rules & regulation of the S.O.N. Maharashtra Nursing Council, Hostel. Mure Memorial Hospital, Clinical area etc. Breach of any of the rules is subject to strict disciplinary action and even termination from the training.

Sick Leave:
Sick leave of 10 days with medical certificate should be authenticated by Registered Medical practitioner & it will be deducted from the annual leave. This leave cannot be accumulated & anjoyed next year. This is allowed only if prescribed day are lacking and permitted to be eligible for appearing MNC exam.

Annual Leave:
30 days are allowed per year as per the discretion of the Management.

Termination of Training:
The training of any student may be terminated by the Authorities if she is found guilty of any misconduct, misbehaviuor, breach of rules or any act prejudicial to the moral code, incompetence in studies or oronic ill health. Every Student must appear 3 times for local examination of Maharashtra Nursing Council. Rules & Regulation for the students of School of Nursing will be applicable to all admitted students. They are expected to follow it strictly in case of any violation of these rules by the student the management without assigning any reason.

1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year & Internship exam is conducted by Maharashtra Nursing Council on prescribed dates. To be eligible to appear for this exam the candidates must pass all the institutional (Quarterly & Term) exam with Minimum 90% attendance in classes & clinical.
If any students is found to have immoral behaviour & disobedience, extra leave availed, remaining absent in class, failing regularly then they may not be allowed to appear in exams. After passing all exams conducted by MNC, candidates will be awarded Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery. Supplementary exams will be conducted for failed students. Minimum passing marks are 50%. Merit candidates will be awarded with Merit Grade. Unless student passes exam, she not allowed to appear for another examination.
